There’s no point setting out on a journey without some idea of your destination. A truism, I know, but let’s unpick it a bit. It’s not quite as linear as it seems at first.
The journey itself can be thoroughly worthwhile, and you may not know at the outset what the final destination will be, or you may discover a new destination that you weren’t aware of at the start of the journey. Even so, if you are to avoid going around in circles, and particularly if you want your colleagues to make the journey with you, it is critical to start out clear about your intentions, and using that to communicate a strong sense of direction.
